Historical Perspective

On the way back to the States

My father wrote this after the tragedy in Japan:    ”Yes for several days now we’ve been listening … about the Sendai earthquake and tsunami.  In 1954 when I first came on a freighter from Seattle, Yokohama was completely level because of bombing.  There was a strange emptiness in me, but I realized that the Lord called me to Japan.  ’For God so loved the world (Japan also)’ was the verse he gave me…. ‘God gave us his one and only Unique Son’ therefore I obeyed Him and went to Japan to be a servant.  I went through WW2 and Japan was my enemy but they became my neighbor!  Only God can do that.

Yes, only God can change our hearts to love people and God continues to work in my heart to love people, to remind people that there is hope in Jesus.  Our prayer is through this disaster his love will be made known.
